Ilie Mitaru is a producer and director who has done work for the likes of CNN, The Guardian, Vice News, NBC, PBS, Al Jazeera, among others.  

Ilie holds a masters in journalism from the CUNY Graduate school of Journalism, where he was awarded a Tow Knight Fellowship in Entrepreneurial Journalism in 2016.  He is an adjust professor at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, and a board member of the national nonprofit Video Consortium, which works to foster collaboration and growth within the nonfiction storytelling community. 

Ilie’s work spans genre and formats, from award-winning POV docs, to TV news and commercials, to travel shows and food series. 

He currently lives in a closet-sized studio on top of all his camera gear in Chinatown NYC.
